PVNC recognizes the month of June as Pride Month

Progress Flag Pride

June 1, 2022

Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington (PVNC) Catholic District School Board will recognize the month of June as Pride Month in solidarity with 2SLGBTQ+ students, staff and allies.

At the April Board of Trustees meeting, Trustees voted in favour of flying the Pride flag at Board facilities during the month of June to further the promotion of an environment of inclusion, diversity and equity in our community.

All 36 schools in PVNC and the Catholic Education Centre will fly the Pride flag beginning Wednesday morning (June 1) for the duration of June as part of the Board’s ongoing commitment to equity and as a symbol of inclusion for our 2SLGBTQ+ community.

The Board will be flying the “Progress” version of the Pride flag. Graphic designer Daniel Quasar has added a five-coloured chevron to the original rainbow flag to place a greater emphasis on “inclusion and progression.”

We are confident that flying the Pride flag in June will be one more action we are taking as a board to support our strategic priority in equity and inclusion and to ensure all of our students experience a sense of belonging in our Catholic schools.
