Child Care

We know that parents often rely on before and after school care for their children.

A variety of child care programs are offered in our schools. These programs range from Extended Day Programs for Kindergarten students, Before and After School Programs for 6 -12 years olds, and Full Day programs offered in childcare centres. The programs are operated by quality licensed not-for-profit child care organizations. Availability of before-and after-school programs depends on whether there is sufficient demand and viability for a program. The hours, costs, and services provided at each site vary.

What is a before and after school program?

At PVNCCDSB, before and after school programs in schools (extended day program) provide children with more opportunities to learn and grow during a seamless day with fewer transitions for children and families. Programs provide snacks, academic assistance, arts and cultural activities, active play, creative pursuits, and personal health and wellness education. Offered learning opportunities align with the principles set out under the professional learning resource guide, “How Does Learning Happen?” Before and after school programs typically run from 7am until school commences, and from dismissal time until 6pm. Some locations offer full-day child care.
