Community Use of Schools

Our Catholic Schools are the heart of the community providing success for each and a place for all. Imagine a school with an after school drop-in program, basketball, volleyball, scouts and guides in the evenings. On weekends, it’s a place where community groups hold concerts, badminton practices and basketball games. Our schools are becoming hubs of our community and it’s happening across the province. Community Use of Schools (CUS) is an initiative of the Ministry of Education that supports access to school space outside of schools hours for community groups. Our school facilities are available for Community Use from September through June, Monday to Friday from 6:00pm to 10:00pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from 7:00am to 10:00pm. Our schools are not open for Community Use during Christmas, March and Summer Breaks, Statutory Holidays, Secondary School Exams, Elementary School Catholic Education Week or Professional Activity (PA) Days. Community Use permits for the upcoming School Year are not accepted until May 1st (unless otherwise specified)each year. Permit applications are reviewed and approved early in July with user groups being advised of their approved school sites and specific dates for each permit. Once the permit is approved an e-mail copy will be sent to the individual making the request.
