PVNC Catholic seeks community input on Draft 2026-2027 School Year Calendar
Dec. 18, 2025
The Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington (PVNC) Catholic District School Board is seeking input from parents, guardians, students, staff, and community members on the draft calendar for the 2026–2027 school year. We invite you to review the proposed options and share your feedback to help us finalize next year’s calendar.
The draft calendars and short survey are available at: https://engagepvnc.ca/2026-2027-school-year-calendar
Important Information
Draft calendars for next school year look different than in recent years because Labour Day falls later in September. This results in fewer instructional days between the day after Labour Day and the end of June. As a result, it becomes necessary to either bring students back to school before Labour Day, or have staff attend for PA Days before Labour Day.
Highlights of the Draft Calendars
Draft 1
- Students return to school on Tuesday, September 1, ahead of Labour Day, attending Tuesday through Friday.
- This option maintains a full nine-week summer break.
- Includes an extended fall break on November 13 and 16.
- The traditional two-week Christmas break and March Break (one week + one day) remain unchanged.
- Includes seven PA Days, as allowed by the Ministry of Education.
Draft 2
- Students return to school on Tuesday, September 8, after Labour Day.
- There is no PA Day in September after Labour Day; both PA Days connected to the start of school occur before students return.
- The traditional two-week Christmas break remains unchanged however March Break is only one week. Students will attend school on the Friday before March Break.
- Includes seven PA Days, as allowed by the Ministry of Education.
Your feedback is important to us. All comments will be reviewed and considered as we develop final recommendations for Board and Ministry of Education approval.
The survey will remain open until January 9, 2026. Please take a moment to share your thoughts.
