Outdoor Air Quality Update – June 6, 2023

The Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) has been fluctuating in our communities today. The latest update has moved many of our regions from the low to moderate risk (3-6) level into the high risk (7+) level.

As such, we provided direction to all schools in the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board to move recess and physical education classes inside this afternoon and throughout the day tomorrow (June 7).

We are reviewing outdoor extracurriculars and class trips scheduled this week on a case-by-case basis to determine if they can safely proceed during this period of time. The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. 

We will continue to monitor the air quality index and update our direction to school administrators accordingly throughout the week.
