Everyday Heroes: Tammy Smith, Erin Gorman, and Nicole Legault

Everyday Hero March 24

We are honoured to present this week’s Everyday Heroes for the 2022/23 school year.

Every week we celebrate PVNC staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague as an Everyday Hero. Every school and every department in our Board has an Everyday Hero who expresses their kindness, courage and love through simple, ordinary actions that uplift the lives of the people around them and the students we serve. An Everyday Hero is a caring adult, an empathetic colleague, somebody who simply makes going to work each day worthwhile.

This week we are celebrating Tammy Smith, Erin Gorman, and Nicole Legault.

Tammy Smith

Tammy Smith Tammy is a Secretary at St. Mary CSS. Tammy was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“Tammy is one of the most selfless, giving employees at SMCSS. She is always willing to lend a hand to colleagues and goes above and beyond the parameters of her job description to ensure that the needs of others are met. In a school as busy as SMCSS, the number of hats that she wears is astounding. We have countless excursions and the volume of funds through school cash online as well as consumables orders are always dealt with in a timely and efficient manner with no errors. She is a problem solver, forward thinker and does what needs to be done and then some. This school would not function as well as it does without Tammy Smith. She is 110 percent an everyday hero here at SMCSS.”

Erin Gorman

Erin Gorman
Erin is a Social Worker at the CEC. Erin was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“Erin is always open to providing support to those who need it most, without judgement. She reaches out to students and their families in a truly disarming manner that conveys the warmth of her care. She gives students hope. Despite the situations that students sometimes find themselves in, Erin is able to show them that there is always a way forward. She gives students hope (repeated deliberately). Erin is responsible for helping students recognize their own path. She very honestly sees Christ in every person and in turn, is Christ for so many.”

Nicole Legault

Nicole Legault
Nicole is an Itinerant Special Education Support Worker. Nicole was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“Nicole loves her job and has often been heard saying ” this is my jam”. Nicole has a genuine interest in supporting students to be the best they can be. Her ability to build rapport with students is unlike any I have seen before! Nicole has a love of learning and is willing to share her ideas and knowledge to build student success.”

We would like to thank Tammy, Erin, and Nicole for their commitment to creating a culture of faith, hope and love to ensure equity and well-being at our board.
