Durham Health recognizes five PVNC schools with Healthy School Awards
June 4, 2019
The Durham Region Health Department has recognized five schools from Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington (PVNC) Catholic District School board as recipients of 2018-2019 Healthy School Awards.
While working with the school community throughout the year, the public health nurse nominates schools that create an environment supportive of health and well-being encouraging students, educators and parents to adopt healthy living behaviours. Healthy schools provide health education in the curriculum, support student engagement and leadership and develop partnerships with parents and community partners with the goal of preventing chronic disease and reducing injuries and substance misuse.
The awards complements the Ontario Ministry of Education Foundations for a Healthy School Framework.
