Two-hundred students from 17 PVNC schools descended on Beavermead Park and Green-Up Ecology Park in Peterborough Tuesday, May 14 to explore their natural environment as part of the 12th annual PVNC Environmental Symposium.

The Board teamed up with local groups such as Otonabee Conservation, Camp Kawartha, the Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre and Peterborough Green-Up for a day of learning about watersheds, biodiversity, composting, community gardening and more.

“It takes some of the things they are learning in class and makes it real for them and it gives them the opportunity to just get into things and play with them and explore and experience that learning hands-on,” learning consultant Sarah Taylor said.
