RELEASE: PVNC Catholic Announces Trustee Seat Vacancy
May 21, 2026
PETERBOROUGH – The Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington (PVNC) Catholic District School Board announces that the seat formerly held by Clarington Trustee Joshua Glover has been declared vacant, effective immediately.
The vacancy is declared in accordance with Section 228(1)(b) of the Education Act and Ontario Regulation 463/97.
Under the Education Act, a trustee’s seat becomes vacant if they are absent from three consecutive regular meetings of the Board without being authorized by a board resolution entered into the minutes.
Furthermore, Ontario Regulation 463/97 mandates that trustees must be physically present for regular Board meetings and Committee of the Whole meetings, unless formal written approval for electronic participation has been granted in alignment with provincial regulations.
Following a comprehensive review of attendance records and legislative requirements, the Board has confirmed that the seat has become vacant by operation of law.
Because this vacancy has occurred after April 1 in a municipal election year, the Education Act dictates that the seat will remain vacant until the next municipal election on October 26, 2026.
The Municipality of Clarington is allocated two trustee seats on the Board; Clarington Catholic schools and families will continue to be represented during this interim period.
PVNC Catholic remains committed to fulfilling its responsibilities to students, families, staff, and the broader community.
