Students, staff and school communities within the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington (PVNC) Catholic District School Board are observing Indigenous Veterans Day on Nov. 8 and Remembrance Day on Nov. 11.

On Friday, flags were lowered to half-mast at all PVNC Catholic buildings in honour of Indigenous Veterans Day.

The will remain lowered over the weekend, including Sunday, the day of the national commemorative ceremony for The Honourable Murray Sinclair, who passed away on Nov. 4th.

Flags will remain at half-mast on Monday for Remembrance Day, before being raised at the beginning of the business day on Tuesday.

On Nov. 8, we acknowledge the contributions of thousands of Indigenous people who served our country in times of war and peace.

On Nov. 11, we honour those who fought and gave their lives to defend the rights, privileges and freedoms that we are fortunate to have in Canada today.

There are various ceremonies and events planned within the PVNC Catholic school communities to mark Remembrance Day.
