The following message was sent to all families at St. Joseph CES in Douro as a result of an ongoing power outage:
Dear Parents/Guardians,
The purpose of this message is to inform you of a power outage at St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School that has left the school without heating, phones and limited running water and lighting.
We have not been able to communicate with Hydro One and do not know when power may be restored.
The school will remain open, however, the limited water and limited lighting may pose challenges throughout the day.
As a result, we are asking all parents/guardians who are able to do so, to attend school and pick up their child from St. Joseph CES as soon as possible.
Parents/guardians are asked to arrive at the school. A staff member will be stationed at the front entrance to greet parents/guardians and retrieve students from their classrooms. We ask parents/guardians to wear a mask and to respect physical distancing while awaiting to pick up their child.
We realize that this will cause some inconvenience, however, student and staff safety is our primary concern.
The school will remain open for students who cannot be picked up. Bottled water is available at the school.
We will be sending a follow-up message to all families regarding the power situation and tomorrow’s school day later today.
**Please note, this message is being sent centrally from the PVNCCDSB Board office.
Sincerely,
Mark Collins
Principal
