Students from Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School in Courtice, led by the Grade 12 Religion classes, recently organized a toiletry drive in support of Bethesda House.
Running for one week in early September, the drive collected nearly 200 items, including deodorant, shampoo, toiletries, hair ties, baby wipes, and more.
This initiative was a collaborative effort between the Chaplaincy and the Religion Department, highlighting the school community’s commitment to service and compassion.
“Our Titans are always answering the call to our community’s needs. This time staff and students were asked to bring in everyday hygiene items for women and children in the community shelter known as Bethesda House,” said Miguel Preciado, Chaplaincy Team Leader. “Our school community brought in close to 200 items. Creating a community with Christ like love, and carrying within us, wherever our path leads us, the heart of a HT Titan.”
Bethesda House, a local shelter that provides support for women, children and families fleeing gender-based violence, put out the call at the start of the school year to Clarington-area schools to take part in the community drive which wrapped up on Sept. 23.
The shelter says it’s in urgent need of gift cards for fresh food and dietary needs, condiments, cereal, school-safe snacks, cake mixes as well as toiletries and pajamas.
More information can be found on the shelter’s website.
