Chris is a Teacher at Holy Cross CSS in Peterborough.
Chris was nominated by a colleague, who said:
“Chris Moher is the definition of an Everyday Hero. He consistently puts the needs of students ahead of his own, giving his time, energy, and care in ways that often go unseen but have a lasting impact.
Chris is a natural leader who leads through action, not titles. As a committed and reliable member of the Varsity Boys Hockey and Varsity Boys Lacrosse coaching staffs, he gives countless hours before school, after school, and on weekends to support student-athletes. He holds students to high standards while creating an environment where they feel supported, respected, and valued. His influence extends beyond the school through his involvement with the PGHA, where he continues to mentor and guide students in the community, strengthening the connection between school, sport, and personal growth.
In his co-op program, Chris goes far beyond what is expected. He dedicates significant time to supporting students individually, helping them secure placements, navigate challenges, and build confidence in real-world settings. He advocates for students who need extra support and takes pride in seeing them succeed. His patience, consistency, and genuine care make a meaningful difference in students’ lives, especially for those who benefit most from a steady, supportive adult.
Chris also has a strong and meaningful impact on staff culture within the school. He is consistently approachable and supportive, and colleagues know they can rely on him for honest advice, encouragement, or simply a moment to reset during a difficult day. He takes the time to check in on others and builds connection through his calm presence and good humour. Chris has a natural ability to lift morale, often through a quick smile or a well-timed laugh, and he does so in a way that feels genuine and effortless. His professionalism, kindness, and steady attitude contribute to a positive and supportive school environment, making him not only a valued colleague but someone people genuinely enjoy working alongside.
Chris does not seek recognition, but he earns it daily through his actions. His commitment to students, his generosity with his time, and his steady leadership reflect the values of our school community. For these reasons, Chris Moher is a truly deserving Everyday Hero.” |
