Everyday Heroes: David Dalliday, Natalie Bates, and Danielle Walters

March 6, 2026

We are honoured to present this week’s Everyday Heroes for the 2025-2026 school year.

Our everyday heroes are the epitome of compassion, devotion and care, transforming everyday tasks into extraordinary impacts.

Their subtle yet powerful actions not only elevate the experiences of colleagues but also enrich the lives of the students we proudly serve. They are more than just supportive adults or empathetic peers; they are the vibrant pulse of our educational community, profoundly touching the lives of all they encounter.

Our everyday heroes come in all forms, quietly making a difference in our schools and board offices, yet very often they overlook or downplay their own actions.

This week we are celebrating David Dalliday, Natalie Bates, and Danielle Walters.

David Dalliday

David Dalliday David is a Teacher at St. Martin CES in Ennismore

David was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“When it comes to dedication, positivity, and putting students first, this kindergarten teacher truly stands out in every way.

He brings learning to life by creating a classroom filled with laughter, creativity, and engagement, where students feel safe, valued, and excited to learn each day! His ability to make learning fun while meeting the needs of every child sets him apart as an exceptional educator. Beyond his classroom, he plays an important role in fostering a positive school environment. He is always willing to help, whether supporting a colleague, sharing ideas, or stepping in wherever needed. His upbeat attitude brightens the days of both students and staff.

Through his hard work, guitar playing, kindness, and enthusiasm, he truly uplifts those around him and embodies the spirit of an Everyday Hero within our school community!”

Natalie Bates

Natalie Bates Natalie is a Teacher at St. Stephen CSS in Bowmanville.

Natalie was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“Natalie joined our Royals staff in late September as a new teacher. She jumped into “teacher life”! She asked if we had a dance team. We did not so she started one! She had over 70 dancers try-out and has been running regular practices since choosing the team. The Girls Volleyball team needed a coach…Natalie was quick to volunteer!

Natalie is also devoted to her courses. She’s planning lessons that are engaging for her SNC2P students. She’s working collaboratively with the other SNC1W teachers and she contributes her time and ideas in planning for that course too.

Natalie always has a smile for her students and fellow staff. She sits with students to work with them on developing their confidence with concepts and skills. We are so lucky to have her with us in her first year of teaching.”

Danielle Walters

Danielle Walters

Danielle is a Teacher at St. Catherine CES in Peterborough.

Danielle was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“She comes to work each day with a warm smile, a positive attitude, and a genuine enthusiasm for teaching. Danielle is deeply admired by her students—both past and present—and has a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcomed, valued, and heard.

Her strengths as an educator shine through the joy and respect her students show her. Danielle is constantly developing and delivering engaging, creative lessons that inspire her students to learn français and build confidence in their abilities. She creates a supportive classroom environment where students feel safe, encouraged, and motivated to succeed.

Danielle is passionate about helping every student reach their full potential. Beyond the classroom, she brings incredible school spirit and eagerly takes part in activities that foster connection and bring joy to the entire school community.

We would like to thank David, Natalie and Danielle for their commitment to creating a culture of faith, hope and love to ensure equity and well-being at our board.
