It doesn’t matter if she’s wearing skates or running shoes, all Clarington’s Rylee Patfield needs is a hockey stick.
The 17-year-old Courtice resident recently signed a hockey scholarship to attend Post University in Waterbury, Conn.
She’s also one of 20 players selected to play for Canada at the U-20 Ball Hockey Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia from June 27 to July 3.
A student at Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School in Courtice, Rylee is a Clarington Flames alumna and currently plays as a forward for the Toronto Junior Aeros.
“I’ve always wanted to play D1 (Division 1) hockey. It’s always been a dream of mine. This opportunity happened not too long ago. I got an offer to go there on Dec. 31. Post University has a great campus. They have small class sizes, which I really like. The coach is really good,” she said.
