Attention Clarington School Transportation Riders: First Student Bus Lines Possible Strike Action
Apr. 24, 2025
Message from Student Transportation Services of Central Ontario (STSCO)
Attention: Parents, Guardians and Students who are assigned to a First Student Bus Route First Student Bus Lines (Bowmanville) has advised Student Transportation Services of Central Ontario (STSCO) of possible strike action by their school bus drivers who service routes in the Clarington area for STSCO.
First Student has advised that negotiations with their bus drivers are on-going, they are scheduled to meet again on April 29, and they are hopeful that a resolution can be reached soon.
It is important that everyone understands that if a settlement cannot be reached, and strike action does occur, school bus routes serviced by First Student Bus Lines will have to be cancelled. As a result, families would have to make alternate arrangements to transport their children to and from school.
This is a very difficult situation for everyone, and we are deeply concerned about the impact a possible strike could have on our students and families, and we want you to be prepared in the event a strike does occur.
We will continue to monitor this situation closely and as we are made aware of any updates on a settlement or possible strike action, we will keep you updated by email through your Bus Planner subscription and post updates on our website at www.stsco.ca.
We respect and value the work of our First Student bus drivers and sincerely hope that the on-going negotiations continue, and this situation is resolved quickly.
If you have further questions about this matter, please contact STSCO at 1-800-757-0307 or First Student at 1-800-361-1950.
