All schools closed tomorrow (Dec. 23) due to expected extreme weather conditions

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Due to extreme weather conditions expected throughout the day tomorrow, all schools in the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington (PVNC) Catholic District School Board will be closed tomorrow (Friday, Dec. 23, 2022).

This winter storm is expected to bring a concerning mix of weather conditions including flash freezing, heavy winds, and blizzard conditions, making it unsafe for students and staff to travel to and from school.

It is never an easy decision to close our schools and we do not make it lightly. While our normal practice is to keep schools open on inclement weather days, we are concerned that the oncoming weather event poses an unusual level of risk to students, staff and families.

Please note, our St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Virtual School will proceed as usual tomorrow.

We hope making this school closure decision early in the afternoon today will provide families time to prepare.

School staff have been advised to tell students to bring home everything they need for the holidays with them this afternoon. As we did not have time to distribute technology, we will not be expecting students to transition to remote learning tomorrow.
