Student summits support mental health and well-being across PVNC Catholic schools
Dec. 8, 2025
This fall, students and educators from across PVNC Catholic had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of mental health and well-being through a series of regional Healthy Schools Summits.
In partnership with Lakelands Public Health and the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board, 20 of our schools attended four summits held throughout September for both elementary and secondary students. These gatherings focused on the importance of mental health awareness and explored practical strategies schools can use to support well-being.
For our Clarington-area students, additional summits were offered through the Taking Action and Making a Difference (TAMI) Coalition for Mental Health in Durham Region. Five PVNC Catholic schools participated in these regional events, engaging in meaningful conversations and learning alongside other Durham Region students.
Each school team—made up of four students and one staff member—spent the day learning, collaborating, and beginning to design a plan they will bring back to their school communities. In the spring, these teams will reunite to share the strategies they’ve implemented over the year and reflect on the positive impact on student well-being.
This initiative provides students with the opportunity to learn together and bring this back to their school communities.
