Storm Update #1: All Clarington and most Northumberland schools to reopen on Tuesday (Apr. 1, 2025)
Mar. 31, 2025
We continue to assess our school facilities following yesterday’s severe ice storm.
At this time, we are confident that all Clarington and Northumberland schools—with the exception of St. Mary Catholic Elementary School in Campbellford—are ready to safely reopen for students and staff tomorrow (Tuesday, April 1). We are planning for a regular school day at those schools.
St. Mary CES in Campbellford remains without power, as do a number of schools in Peterborough (city and county) and the City of Kawartha Lakes. We are monitoring the situation closely in those areas and expect to make a decision about the status of those schools later today, possibly into the early evening, as more information becomes available.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we assess the safety of each school throughout the day, and we will communicate with school communities as soon as we have information to share.
Given that many families in our district remain without power and may not be able to access email or phone reliably, we ask families and staff to continue to assist us in sharing these updates broadly. Thank you.
