St. Thomas Aquinas CSS to close today (Feb. 19) due to power outage
The Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board is closing St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School in Lindsay this afternoon (Feb. 19, 2019) due to a power outage.
The school experienced a power outage in the early morning hours that has impacted heating and lighting.
While facilities staff is working diligently to restore power and heat to the school, we have been informed that this may take several hours at the earliest.
Given the temperature today, the Board is making the difficult decision to close the school for safety reasons.
We realize that this will cause some inconvenience, however student and staff safety is always our top priority.
As a result of the school closure, the school had asked all Parents/Guardians to pick their children up at St. Thomas Aquinas by 12:30 p.m. A direct message (voice and email) was sent to all families at the school today at 11:30 a.m. informing them of the closure.
Any remaining students at the school after 12:30 p.m. will be shuttled to St. Dominic Catholic Elementary School (320 Mary St. W.) where they can be picked up during the afternoon.
Any students not picked up at St. Dominic CES will be shuttled back to St. Thomas Aquinas CSS at 2:45 p.m. where buses will be running as per usual.
We will be sending a follow-up message to all families regarding the power situation and tomorrow’s school day later this afternoon or in the early evening.
Parents are asked to follow the school’s website and Twitter feed @STA_CSS for updates. Parents/Guardians with questions or concerns are asked to please communicate by email to Mr. Winn at [email protected] or Ms. Carson at [email protected].
