St. Patrick Catholic Elementary School in Peterborough has received a major boost for its school library thanks to the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation.

This fall, St. Patrick CES was one of 118 schools across Canada selected to participate in the foundation’s national fundraiser, which supports literacy and helps schools update their book collections.

From September 5 to October 5, 2025, Chapters Peterborough collected donations in-store and online, with every dollar raised going directly to the school’s library.

At the campaign’s halfway point, the fundraiser had already brought in more than $3,000—but by the end, the generosity of the Peterborough community pushed that total to an impressive $7,517.

“Receiving so much support from the Peterborough community really shows how much people value literacy,” said Nikki Tripp, the school’s Learning Commons Specialist. “The $7,517 that Chapters Peterborough raised was more than double what I was even hoping for. The looks on the students’ faces and the cheers when I told them how much was raised to help them was absolutely heart-warming, they are so excited for us to start updating our collection.”

The funds will allow the school to refresh its library collection with new books and resources, supporting student literacy and fostering a lifelong love of reading.
