Ontario Catholic School Trustees’ Association (OCSTA) Director of Legislative and Political Affairs Stephen Andrews will lead the session. His Excellency Most Reverend Bishop Daniel Miehm will also be in attendance to take part in the discussion.
WHAT: Becoming a Catholic School Trustee Workshop
WHEN: May 1, 2018 at 4:30 p.m.
WHERE: PVNC Catholic Education Centre (1355 Lansdowne St. W)
Catholic schools are governed by Catholic trustees elected by Catholic school electors living in the jurisdiction of Catholic district school boards. In the PVNC jurisdiction, there are seven trustees to be elected, with one representative to be elected from each of Peterborough County, Northumberland County, and the City of Kawartha Lakes, and two representatives elected from each of the City of Peterborough and the Municipality of Clarington.
The next municipal election in Ontario will be held Monday, October 22, 2018. The Education Act specifies that to be eligible to serve as a Catholic school trustee a person must be:
• a Canadian citizen
• a Roman Catholic
• 18 years of age or older
• a resident within the jurisdiction of the board; and
• not an employee of any district school board.
PVNC invites anyone who meets the above criteria, and who is interested in learning more about the municipal election process and the role of a Catholic trustee, to join us for the May 1, 2018 workshop.
