Community: City of Peterborough | Years of Service: 2 years
As part of our new Trustee Spotlight series, we are introducing you to the dedicated leaders who serve on the PVNC Catholic Board of Trustees. Trustees play a vital role in guiding Catholic education, advocating for students and families, and strengthening connections with our school communities. Each month, we’ll feature one trustee to share their story, experiences, and what inspires them in this important work.
Why did you choose to become a trustee?
I am the product of a home that emphasized the duty and responsibility of the individual to contribute to their community. My father is a retired secondary school teacher, my wife is a post-secondary educator and our son is a teacher at PVNC Catholic. It was always our commitment to be engaged and actively participate in our three children’s education journey through their PVNC Catholic journeys. I believe I have a great deal to contribute in personal and professional experience to the role of Trustee to help make the current system better.
What have you found most rewarding about serving your school communities?
The stories are the best part. These demonstrate the commitment PVNC Catholic staff have to their jobs and especially delivering high quality educational experience for the parents and children of the Board. Witnessing staff members’ professional and personal commitment to their role is inspiring which in turn makes me want to provide the same commitment to excellence on the governing side.
What has been a memorable or proud moment during your time as a PVNC Catholic trustee?
I believe the best is yet to come but I am personally proud of contributing to creating the path to one day welcome a First Nation Trustee.
What do you love most about the specific community you serve?
There is nothing better than the children. Creating the best possible education experience for all these young minds is the most rewarding part of the Trustee role.
Tell us one fun or surprising fact about yourself.
I am a first generation Canadian, born in Montreal to immigrant parents who fostered the importance of personal conviction and public service.
