The Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington (PVNC) Catholic District School Board has reached a remarkable milestone in support of cancer research, raising more than $4 million for the Terry Fox Foundation since first participating in the Terry Fox School Run.

To recognize this achievement, PVNC Catholic received a commemorative plaque from the Terry Fox Foundation after surpassing $4,093,869.17 in total fundraising contributions.

“This plaque represents the dedication, leadership, and compassion shown by your students, staff, and school communities,” the Terry Fox Foundation wrote in a letter to the Board. “Your continued efforts are making a meaningful difference in the lives of Canadians affected by cancer, and we are truly honoured to acknowledge this exceptional contribution.”

The milestone reflects decades of commitment from students, staff, families, and school communities across PVNC Catholic, who have supported Terry Fox’s vision of a world without cancer through annual fundraising events and school runs.

PVNC Catholic secondary schools also demonstrated exceptional leadership this year, with St. Peter Catholic Secondary School, Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School, and Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School all earning spots among Ontario’s top 25 fundraising schools.

As the Terry Fox Foundation prepares to mark the 46th anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope this coming school year, PVNC Catholic communities are already looking ahead to the next Terry Fox School Run, scheduled for late September.
