Michelle Griepsma acclaimed as PVNC board chairperson

Kawartha Lakes trustee Michelle Griepsma was acclaimed as Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington (PVNC) Catholic District School Board chairperson during the Board’s annual meeting Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, held at the Mount Community Centre in Peterborough.

Griepsma, a mother of four from Lindsay, Ont., has served as board chairperson since the 2013-14 school year. She has been a trustee for seven years and has been a regional director to the Ontario Catholic School Trustees’ Association (OCSTA) since 2015.

“It is a privilege to know that I continue to hold the confidence of my fellow trustees and I am proud to be chairperson of a Catholic school board that continually places the utmost priority on student achievement and wellbeing and providing the highest quality of Catholic education,” Griepsma said.

Northumberland County trustee David Bernier was acclaimed as vice-chairperson. Bernier is a former board chairperson and has been a trustee for 11 years.

“Our school board has benefited from the hard work, strong leadership and unwavering service of Michelle and David for many years,” said Director of Education Michael Nasello. “I thank all of our trustees for their dedication and commitment to the success of our students, staff and school communities.”

Trustees were also appointed to standing and ad-hoc committees during Tuesday’s meeting.
