Faith and Wellness Day Brings City of Kawartha Lakes Students Together at St. Dominic CES

On May 7, St. Dominic Catholic Elementary School in Lindsay recently welcomed Grade 7 and 8 students from across the City of Kawartha Lakes Family of Schools for a day centred on faith, wellness, and community connection during Catholic Education Week.

Throughout the day, students participated in five interactive learning rotations designed to encourage reflection, resilience, gratitude, and healthy relationships.

One session, Sacred Silence, introduced students to Christian meditation and scriptural reflection, helping them explore grounding techniques and the value of stillness in reducing stress and mental noise.

Another activity, The Infinite Loop, focused on social wellness and the importance of authentic human connection. Students discussed building supportive communities, practicing digital integrity, and setting healthy boundaries with technology to reduce feelings of isolation and digital burnout.

The session highlighted how physical stress can impact emotional resilience, mood regulation, and mental clarity.

The Living Mosaic encouraged students to express the intersection of their personal faith and community belonging through collaborative art and reflection. The activity emphasized the importance of creativity, belonging, and emotional expression in supporting mental wellness.

Radiating Hope was a session focused on gratitude, hope, and letting go of internal burdens. Students learned about the value of externalizing worries and embracing faith-filled practices that create space for peace and healing.
