Excellent showing for PVNC Catholic student athletes at COSSA Alpine Skiing Event

It was a clean sweep of the podium for Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington (PVNC) Catholic District School Board at the Central Ontario Secondary Schools Association (COSSA) Alpine Skiing Open Boys event on Wednesday (Feb. 12, 2025) at the Batawa Ski Hill in Quinte West.
St. Peter Catholic Secondary School saw two of its athletes get on the podium with Rees Tewsley taking the gold medal while Matthew Johnson took the bronze. St. Mary Catholic Secondary School student Drayden MacDonald captured silver.
Tewsley qualified for Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) as the Open Boys individual representative from COSSA.
The St. Mary CSS boys team also qualified for OFSAA as the Open Boys team representative from COSSA.
Joining Drayden MacDonald at OFSAA will be his brother Nolan, Aiden Case, Hugh Thompson and Cove Pratt.
On the girls’ side, St. Peter CSS student Maia Merrit took home the COSSA Level 1 Girls championship while Joannie Greer from St. Mary CSS was the COSSA Open Girls winner.
Both have advanced to OFSAA which takes place at Osler Ski Club in Collingwood on Feb. 24-25, 2025.
