Everyday Heroes: Silvie Stetco, Megan Clancy, and Michelle Garden
Feb. 6, 2026
We are honoured to present this week’s Everyday Heroes for the 2025-2026 school year.
Our everyday heroes are the epitome of compassion, devotion and care, transforming everyday tasks into extraordinary impacts.
Their subtle yet powerful actions not only elevate the experiences of colleagues but also enrich the lives of the students we proudly serve. They are more than just supportive adults or empathetic peers; they are the vibrant pulse of our educational community, profoundly touching the lives of all they encounter.
Our everyday heroes come in all forms, quietly making a difference in our schools and board offices, yet very often they overlook or downplay their own actions.
This week we are celebrating Silvie Stetco, Megan Clancy, and Michelle Garden
Silvie Stetco
 |
Silvie is a French Teacher at St. Mary CES in Campbellford.
Silvie was nominated by a colleague, who said:
“The staff and students are very blessed to have Madame Stetco for our French teacher.
She is the most joyful person in the building, and thankfully, she shares that joy all over the school, as she moves from class to class to deliver the French curriculum. I have never seen intermediate students so excited for French time! She brings engaging materials for the students and makes French accessible and enjoyable for all! She has also created a French club for the students to partake in. While our youngest students do not yet have French with Madame, she has invited them to join the French club as well. She has a full hallway for her meetings, where the students learn new vocabulary and enjoy French cuisine. She also planned an incredible French trip last year to the Canadian Canoe Museum.
Madame gives so generously of her time and care with the students, it is no wonder they love her, truly. Madame is such a wonderful asset to our school community, and we are so fortunate she is ours. I cannot think of a more deserving recipient.” |

Megan is an Educational Assistant at St. Catherine CES in Peterborough.
Megan was nominated by a colleague, who said:
“I would like to nominate Megan Clancy for her unwavering dedication, positivity, and genuine care for the students she supports.
She brings a wonderful spirit to our school each day and consistently approaches her work with kindness, patience and optimism. She goes above and beyond to ensure her students receive the best possible care, always taking the time to understand individual needs. When a strategy isn’t working, she doesn’t give up – instead, she thoughtfully explores new approaches and options to help her students succeed. Her positivity is contagious , her advocacy for students is inspiring, and her commitment truly makes a difference in the lives of the children she works with.
She is definitely an everyday hero.” |
Michelle Garden

Michelle is an Autism Spectrum Disorder Worker (ASDW) at Holy Cross CSS in Peterborough.
Michelle was nominated by a colleague, who said:
“Michelle Garden is a true superhero within our school community.
No matter the setting, Michelle greets her students each morning with a clean slate, contagious energy, and a genuine sense of fun that uplifts not only her students, but every staff member around her. She is constantly seeking new ways to build meaningful relationships, creatively engage students, and bring joy into their programming. Michelle deeply believes in the work she does and in the full potential of every child she supports. Every action she takes is driven by what will benefit her students and help them take their next step forward.
Her care, commitment, and belief in her students are unmatched—there is truly no one like her.” |
We would like to thank Silvie, Megan, and Michelle for their commitment to creating a culture of faith, hope and love to ensure equity and well-being at our board.
