Welcoming our new Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV
May 8, 2025
Dear Students, Staff, and Families,
With great joy and hope, we join Catholics around the world in celebrating the election of our new Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV. As the successor to Saint Peter, our new pope takes up the sacred mission of shepherding the global Catholic Church and guiding us in faith, compassion, and service.
We pray that the Holy Spirit will grant Pope Leo XIV wisdom, courage, and a heart open to the needs of all people. May his leadership inspire each of us to deepen our relationship with Christ and continue to build vibrant, caring communities within our schools and beyond.
Let us pray for Pope Leo XIV as he embarks on this important ministry.
Yours in faith,
Stephen O’Sullivan

Statement by the Most Reverend Daniel J. Miehm, Bishop of Peterborough
We have received the great and joyful news of the election of a new pontiff: Cardinal Robert Prevost, formerly the head of the Dicastery for Bishops, who has chosen the name Pope Leo XIV. We join with Catholics around the world, all Christians, and all people of good will in praying for our new Holy Father that God may endow him with wisdom, compassion and Apostolic courage as he assumes the ministry of Universal Shepherd and Vicar of Christ on Earth.

Bishop of Peterborough
