COVID-19 outbreak declared over at St. Paul CES in Norwood
Oct. 17, 2021,
The following letter has been sent to staff and families at St. Paul Catholic Elementary School in Norwood informing the school community that the COVID-19 outbreak at the school is over.
Dear Parents/Guardians and Staff,
The purpose of this communication is to provide you an update about the status of COVID-19 cases at St. Paul Catholic Elementary School.
Peterborough Public Health (PPH) has declared the outbreak over at St. Paul Catholic Elementary School effective Saturday morning. The three cases connected to the outbreak, which was declared on Oct. 8, 2021, have been resolved.
Over the weekend, PPH confirmed two new cases of COVID-19 at the school that have no link to the recent outbreak. The identity of the individuals is protected by privacy legislation and will not be shared.
What we can share is that the individuals are isolating at home. They will remain at home until PPH advises they may return to school. We have been working closely with PPH to identify anyone at the school who may have been exposed to the individuals while they were infectious and have notified all identified contacts with a separate notice to advise them of next steps.
Our school remains open, and as always, we continue to follow all public health and provincial recommendations, including thorough cleaning and disinfecting of all areas; frequent and proper handwashing by everyone in the building; wearing masks; maintaining physical distancing to the fullest extent possible, and following any other steps directed by Peterborough Public Health.
We continue to ask all students and staff to complete the daily self-assessment for symptoms before arriving at school: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening
We will let families know of any further developments. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Sincerely,
Derek Abrams
Principal
