COVID-19 outbreak declared at Monsignor O’Donoghue CES
Dec. 24, 2021,
The following letter has been sent to staff and families at Monsignor O’Donoghue CES informing the school community about a COVID-19 outbreak at the school.
Dear Parents, Guardians and Staff,
This letter is to inform you that Peterborough Public Health (PPH) has confirmed multiple cases of COVID-19 at Monsignor O’Donoghue Catholic Elementary School and PPH has declared an outbreak at the school.
Currently, there are three confirmed cases at the school. The term “outbreak” is used provincially by public health units when they believe there is evidence that at least one person could have reasonably acquired their infection within the school.
Those identified as close contacts with respect to the cases at the school have already been contacted and provided specific PPH direction with respect to isolation and testing.
Staff and students who have not been identified as high-risk contacts should self-monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19.
Common COVID-19 symptoms include fever (temperature of 37.8 degrees Celsius or greater), chills, new or worsening cough, shortness of breath, decrease or loss of taste or smell, nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhea. Other symptoms for adults over 18 may include fatigue (generally feeling unwell or tired), or muscle aches and pain. For more information about COVID-19, visit www.peterboroughpublichealth.ca/novel-coronavirus-covid-19/
We will let families know about any further developments.
Sincerely,
Shelley Adair
Principal
