COVID-19 case confirmed at St. Catherine CES in Peterborough
April 5, 2021,
The following letter was sent to the St. Catherine Catholic Elementary School community in Peterborough, informing students, families and staff that an individual at the school has received a positive test result for COVID-19.
Dear parents, guardians and staff,
As always, the well-being of our students and staff is our top priority. With that in mind, we are letting you know that Peterborough Public Health (PPH) has notified us of a confirmed case of COVID-19 at St. Catherine CES. The identity of the individual is protected by privacy legislation and will not be shared.
What we can share is that the individual has been isolating at home and they did not attend school while they were infectious. They will remain at home until the health unit advises they may return to school. Peterborough Public Health has investigated and has determined that no St. Catherine students or staff members are deemed high-risk contacts related to this case.
Our school remains open, and as always, we continue to follow all public health and provincial recommendations, including thorough cleaning and disinfecting of all areas; frequent and proper handwashing by everyone in the building; wearing masks; maintaining physical distancing to the fullest extent possible, and following any other steps directed by PPH.
We continue to ask all students and staff to complete the daily self-assessment for symptoms before arriving at school: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening.
It is important to remember that the daily self-assessment says that everyone in your household must stay home if anyone has COVID-19 symptoms or is waiting for test results after experiencing symptoms. Please stay home until the person with symptoms gets a negative COVID-19 test result, or is cleared by public health, or is diagnosed with another illness.
We will let families know of any further developments. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Sincerely,
Julie Selby
Principal
