COVID-19 case confirmed at St. Anne CES in Peterborough
March 29, 2021,
The following letter was sent to the St. Anne Catholic Elementary School community in Peterborough, informing students, families and staff that an individual at the school has received a positive test result for COVID-19.
Dear parents, guardians, and staff:
As always, the well-being of our students and staff is our top priority. With that in mind, we are letting you know that we have been informed of a confirmed case of COVID-19 at St. Anne Catholic Elementary School.
As directed by Peterborough Public Health, we have dismissed the individuals who were known to have been in close contact with the person who is ill during theirinfectious period. Those identified as close contacts will be contacted by Peterborough Public Health and be provided further guidance. The individual who is ill is at home isolating and will return to school when they have recovered. The identity of the individual is protected by privacy legislation and will not be shared.
Our school remains open. Staff and students who are NOT directly advised to stay home should continue to self-monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID- 19 daily. We continue to ask all students and staff to complete the daily self-assessment for symptoms before arriving at school: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/
It is important to remember that the daily self-assessment says that everyone in your household must stay home if anyone has COVID-19 symptoms or is waiting for test results after experiencing symptoms. Please stay home until the person with symptoms gets a negative COVID-19 test result, or is cleared by public health, or is diagnosed with another illness.
We continue to follow all public health and provincial recommendations, including thorough cleaning and disinfecting of all areas; frequent and proper handwashing by everyone in the building; wearing masks; maintaining physical distancing to the fullest extent possible, and following any other steps directed by Peterborough Public Health.
We will let families know of any further developments. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Sincerely,
Christine Brodie
Principal
