Board-wide cross-country meet Oct. 3 cancelled

Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington (PVNC) Catholic District School Board regrets that it is cancelling the Board-wide cross country meet, which was to take place at Beavermead Park in Peterborough tomorrow on Thursday, Oct. 3.

The Board postponed the event’s original date on Tuesday (Oct. 1) due to concerns about inclement weather. Unfortunately, due to logistical issues, we have been unable to arrange fair and equitable transportation for all our cross-country participants for our backup date tomorrow.

As a result, we have had to make the difficult decision to postpone this event until the spring.

The Board acknowledges that this will come as a disappointment for our participants and their families. Every year as the colours turn on the trees, we enjoy hosting this great outdoor event and celebrating student achievement. We know our student athletes have worked hard to train and were excited to compete at a system level and that our families were excited to cheer them on.

We remain committed to offering this opportunity for our students and we are currently working to secure a date in May 2020.

A communication will go out to participants’ families today (Oct. 2, 2019).
