After more than a decade away from musical theatre, St. Stephen Catholic Secondary School in Bowmanville is returning to the stage with a production of You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown

This year’s musical brings the beloved characters of Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts comic strip to life, combining humour, nostalgia, and a whole lot of heart.

Directed by a team of 13 staff members and featuring a cast and crew of more than 50 students, this year’s production marks the school’s largest theatrical undertaking in years.

Auditions began back in October, and since November, the student cast has been rehearsing three nights a week to bring this show to life.

Despite snow days and unexpected closures, the show has pushed forward with creativity and resilience.

The set—largely built from recycled materials—reflects both the school’s commitment to sustainability and a forward-looking plan to preserve resources for future productions.

Just after Christmas, students took the lead in constructing and painting props showcasing both artistry and teamwork.

This year’s production includes an animated sequence created entirely by two senior Communications Technology students.

The animation—which will feature sound effects and even a kazoo solo—brings a modern, multimedia flair to the timeless charm of the Peanuts gang.

Based on the musical by Clark Gesner, with additional material by Michael Mayer and Andrew Lippa, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown follows Charlie, Snoopy, Lucy, Linus, and the rest of the Peanuts crew through a series of vignettes.
