Storm Update: PVNC Catholic School Status Update for Apr. 2, 2025

Apr. 1, 2025

Following further assessments today, schools in Peterborough and the City of Kawartha Lakes (CKL) will reopen on a school-by-school basis on Wednesday, April 2, depending on power restoration and site safety.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate the aftermath of this week’s severe weather.

All schools in the City of Peterborough will be open tomorrow for students and staff who can safely attend, with the exception of Immaculate Conception CES, which remains closed due to a power outage.

Clarington and Northumberland Schools

All schools in Clarington and Northumberland will be open on April 2, except for St. Mary CES in Campbellford, which remains closed.

Transportation and Safety Considerations

  • Student transportation may be unavailable in some areas of Peterborough, Northumberland and CKL, as local bus operators may still be without power and unable to safely transport students.

  • For updates on transportation routes, please visit www.stsco.ca for Peterborough, Northumberland, and Clarington, and www.mybustoschool.ca for CKL.

  • Crossing guard services may be limited. Municipalities are working to deploy crossing guards, but coverage cannot be guaranteed in all areas.

  • Safety alert: Some sidewalks remain uncleared, and traffic lights may be non-functional at certain intersections. Please exercise caution when planning your child’s route to school.

Important Notice: Conditions May Change

The local power grid remains unstable, and schools with power today may experience outages again. We are closely monitoring the weather forecast, as more inclement weather may be on the way. As conditions continue to evolve, school status may change, and we will provide updates as soon as they become available.

We remain committed to keeping families informed and appreciate your continued support and flexibility as we work to maintain safe school communities.
