Emergency Preparedness

An emergency is a situation or an impending situation that represents a danger of major proportions. The situation could result in serious harm to persons or substantial damage to property, and is caused by the forces of nature, a disease or other health risk, an accident, or an act.
The Board is committed to the safety of students and staff and has a responsibility to provide immediate direction, care, and assistance to students and staff during emergency situations. The Board provides staff with training and resources to support emergency preparedness, and ensures that each school’s emergency plan meets the needs of the school.
In an emergency situation, the safety and well-being of all students and staff will be addressed. The Board will co-operate with federal, provincial, and municipal emergency preparedness plans to provide accommodations for communities that have been evacuated from their homes.
