PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
The school provides a Catholic faith-based education in accordance with the Institute for Catholic Education Catholic School Graduate Expectations and the Ontario Provincial Curriculum expectations from Grades JK to 3. The English program runs from Grades JK to 3 and there is no French Immersion program. The school highlights Catholic Virtues each month and incorporates these into all areas of the curriculum.CATHOLIC SCHOOL COUNCIL:

# Living Faith: The St. Mary’s School community believes that a Catholic school is one in which the teachings of Jesus Christ are integrated into the day-to-day curriculum and social fabric of the school. The strength of our school comes from the Catholic faith that the staff, students and community share. We aspire to have our students develop a way of living that embodies the life of Jesus Christ.The St. Mary’s school community has many opportunities to pray and demonstrate their Catholic faith. These opportunities include: school liturgies and joint liturgies with St. Anthony’s school, classroom prayers and school-wide prayer services, teaching masses, pastoral classroom visits, fundraising for charities and community service.
# Excellence in Learning: The teaching staff at St. Mary’s believes in the concept of continuous improvement. The staff will work cooperatively with Board personnel and their colleagues to develop teaching strategies to implement the Ontario Curriculum. The staff will continue to incorporate Gospel values into the life of St. Mary’s school.
# Athletics: The school offers an active intramural program, daily physical education and a Cross Country Team.
# Social Justice: The St. Mary’s school community has formed partnerships with the following organizations to support our own community and those around the world: Canadian Red Cross, Operation Christmas Child, Terry Fox Foundation, The United Way, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Northumberland Food For Thought and local Parish initiatives.
# Co-curricular Activities: The school offers an Environment Club, Library Club and Intramural activities.
