Human Resource Services is responsible for providing support and services to over 2,100 employees who work to provide a Catholic education for our students and communities. As a Catholic organization, Human Resources Services aims to achieve a working environment that respects the dignity and worth of every person while maintaining fair and just compensation for employees. Equally important, Human Resources Services continually strives to ensure that public resources are used in a prudent and responsible manner.

Human Resource Services responsibilities include:

• Recruitment and hiring
• Employee records: qualifications, documentation, and certification
• Labour relations with our three unionized employee groups: OECTA (teachers), CUPE (support staff), and OECTA- OTL (occasional teachers)
• Contract negotiations
• Benefits administration
• Internal and external employment postings
• Workplace Safety Insurance Board claims
• Long-term disability
• Criminal background checks
• Collective agreement administration
• System staffing projections
• Workplace accommodations
• Job evaluations and pay equity
• Employee dispute resolution
• Teacher performance appraisal
• Assignment and tracking of occasional employees: teachers, support staff, maintenance, and administration
