What is the Catholic Parent Engagement Committee?

The Catholic Parent Engagement Committee (CPEC) was formed to support, encourage, and enhance parent engagement at the Board level, and improve student achievement and well-being. All parents with students in Board schools are welcome to seek election.

CPEC develops strategies and initiatives for effective communication and engagement with parents. CPEC works with CSC and Board employees to help engage parents in their children's learning, reduce barriers to parent involvement, and ensure that schools create a welcoming environment for parents. 

Who serves on CPEC and for how long?

  • The following people serve on CPEC:
  • Parents - six for one year, six for two years
  • Trustee - one year
  • Principal - two years
  • Director of Education and Administrative Assistant Community Representatives - two years
  • OAPCE Director - two years

How often does CPEC meet?

CPEC meets four times per school year, and attends one set of regional meetings and two general assembly meetings with all CSC Chairs.
