Catholic Graduate Expectations

Expectations for graduates of Catholic schools extend beyond grades and academic achievement. Shaped by our faith tradition, our expectations also include values, attitudes, and actions. Our Christian world view values the individual person, and tells us that God creatively and lovingly calls each of us into life and sustains us by the power of the Holy Spirit through our journey into life eternal. The journey includes moments of brokenness and sin. The person of Jesus, who is the risen Christ and the human face of God, shares our life to heal us of brokenness and free us from sin.

Our human journey is experienced through relationship and community with our brothers and sisters in the Church and beyond.

The Catholic tradition sees human life as a combination of body, mind, and spirit. From this vision, Catholic education promotes the search for knowledge as a lifelong spiritual and academic quest. Catholic graduates, therefore, are both lifelong learners and people of value, character, and positive action.

The graduate is expected to be:

A discerning believer formed in the Catholic faith community who celebrates the signs and sacred mystery of God's presence through word, sacrament, prayer, forgiveness, reflection, and moral living
An effective communicator who speaks, writes, and listens honestly and sensitively, responding critically in light of gospel values
A reflective, creative, and holistic thinker who solves problems and makes responsible decisions with an informed moral conscience for the common good
A self-directed, responsible, lifelong learner who develops and demonstrates God-given potential
A collaborative contributor who finds meaning, dignity, and vocation in work that respects the rights of all and contributes to the common good
A caring family member who attends to family, school, parish, and the community
A responsible citizen who gives witness to Catholic social teaching by promoting peace, justice, and the sacredness of human life.
