Guiding principles
- Literacy is a key to lifelong learning.
- Literacy instruction must be embedded across the curriculum. all teachers of all subjects, from Kindergarten to Grade 12, are teachers of literacy.
- Families and communities must be encouraged and supported in taking action to promote student literacy.
- Effective literacy learning may occur in or require a variety of innovative and flexible structures within the school and in the community.
